Ingredients

  • Lemon size Tamarind
  • 12 to 15 - peppercorns
  • 1 - Red Chilli
  • 2 tsp - tur dal
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 8 - kandathippili pieces
  • 5 - arisi thippili pieces
  • Curry leaves
  • Ghee for tempering
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Kandathippilli rasam:

    1. Roast tuvar dal, pepper corns and cumin in ghee; grind with curry leaves and keep aside.
    2. Roast kandathippili and arisi thippili in ghee.
    3. Extract tamarind juice, add salt and let it boil for 2-3 mins.
    4. Then add the ground powder to it and some more water and boil for 2 minutes.
    5. Temper with mustard, 1 red chilli and curry leaves.
