How to Make Karakuzhambu

  • First in a kadai heat oil, add mustard seeds. Once it crackles, add 1 tsp of channa dal and red chillies. Add onions, when it becomes soft, add tomatoes and tamarind pulp
  • Add sambar powder and turmeric powder.
  • Saute for 5 mins.
  • If required, add some grated coconut.
  • Allow it to cool for 10 mins then grind the above into a paste.
  • Heat oil in another kadai, add brinjal (slit into 4) and fry very well.
  • Now add the ground paste with some water and salt.
  • Boil for 5 mins and serve with rice.
