Ingredients

  • 2 - karelas
  • 6 - 10- Green chillies
  • 1/2 cup - grated Coconut
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 cup - Curd
  • Few - Curry leaves
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • How to Make Karela (Kayapakka) Pachadi:

    1. Wash and deseed the karela and chop it finely.
    2. Add salt to it and remove the water.
    3. Add oil in kadai and fry karela till golden brown.
    4. Allow it to cool.
    5. Make a paste of grated coconut, green chillies and mustard seeds.
    6. Add this paste to the fried karela and mix well.
    7. Add curd to this.
    8. Add salt if required and mix well.
    9. Heat oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
    10. When they splutter, add the curry leaves and add to the karela pachadi.
    11. You may have this with chapatti and rice as a side dish.
