Ingredients

  • 3 cups shelled, deveined Prawns .
  • 2 large onions, chopped finely.
  • 1/4 coconut, grated.
  • 5 red chillies.
  • 6 Cloves garlic.
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds.
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder.
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped.
  • 1/2 tsp - coriander-cumin powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - curry powder.
  • 2 tbsp - jaggery.
  • 1 tsp - Lemon juice.
  • oil as needed.
  • Salt to taste.
  • How to Make Khatta Meetha Prawn patia:

    1. Grind coconut, cumin seeds, garlic and red chillies to a paste.
    2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a karahi.
    3. Fry the onion till brown.
    4. Add the ground paste and fry on slow fire.
    5. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander-cumin powder. Fry for a while.
    6. Add the de-veined shelled prawns.
    7. Add chopped tomatoes.
    8. Do not add water.
    9. Let the prawns cook on a slow fire, keeping some water on the lid.
    10. When prawns are cooked, add grated jaggery and lime juice to taste.
    11. Serve hot.
