Ingredients

  • 3 cups shelled, deveined prawns .
  • 2 large onions, chopped finely.
  • 1/4 coconut, grated.
  • 5 red chillies.
  • 6 cloves garlic.
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds.
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder.
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped.
  • 1/2 tsp - coriander-cumin powder.
  • 1/2 tsp - curry powder.
  • 2 tbsp - jaggery.
  • 1 tsp - lemon juice.
  • oil as needed.
  • Salt to taste.

How to Make Khatta Meetha Prawn patia

  • Grind coconut, cumin seeds, garlic and red chillies to a paste.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a karahi.
  • Fry the onion till brown.
  • Add the ground paste and fry on slow fire.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander-cumin powder. Fry for a while.
  • Add the de-veined shelled prawns.
  • Add chopped tomatoes.
  • Do not add water.
  • Let the prawns cook on a slow fire, keeping some water on the lid.
  • When prawns are cooked, add grated jaggery and lime juice to taste.
  • Serve hot.
