How to Make Kodhi Mennusu

  • Soak Tuvar dal in water for 1/2 hour.
  • Separately soak tamarind also in water.
  • Grind all the ingredients except the seasoning with as little water as possible along with the soaked dhal and tamarind.
  • Now heat oil in a kadai, add mustard and hing and when it splutters, add the ground paste and fry till oil separates out from the chutney.
  • Tips: This is very good with rice and ghee and also as an accompaniment for dosa or idli. This is given to mothers with newborns.
