  • 1/2 cup - Kollu (Horse Gram)
  • 2 tbsp - Toor dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Oil
  • 2 - Dry red chilli
  • 1 tsp - Black pepper
  • 2 - Pods (Optional) Garlic
  • 1 pinch- Asafetida
  • Sesame oil- 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste.

How to Make Kollu Podi - Horse gram podi

  • Heat oil in a pan and roast the horse gram. Add the kollu and toor dal to it and roast it.
  • Keep aside.
  • Now roast the red chillies, garlic, black pepper, asafoetida on a medium flame. Add salt and remove.
  • Now combine the roasted kollu and spice mixture. Let it cool and then grind it in a mixer until fine.
  • Cool the podi for 15 mins by spreading it on a plate.
  • Now store it in a dry container.
  • Mix with rice along with a few drops of sesame oil.
  • Serve with rice/dosa/idli.
