Cashew nuts - 1 cup
Milk powder - 1/2 cup
Icing sugar - 1/2 cup or to taste
Condensed milk - to mix
Pistachio essence - few drops
Green food colour - few drops
Finely chopped mixed nuts (almond, pistachio, cashew nut) for filling
A few beetle leaves
A few cloves
How to Make Lavanga Lathika
Powder the cashew nuts and pass through a sieve. (The residue in the sieve may be used in the filling).
Add milk powder and icing sugar.
Add condensed milk little at a time, mixing well after each addition, till the mixture is like poori dough.
Add essence and color.
Grease the back side of a beetle leaf.
Take a lime sized ball of the mixture and spread it thinly on the greased leaf.
Place some mixed nuts in the center.
Fold the mixture over the filling into a triangle, with the help of the leaf. (Peel away the leaf from mixture after each fold)
Secure the folds with a clove.
Use all the filling.
Store in a container in the refrigerator.
