  • Cashew nuts - 1 cup
  • Milk powder - 1/2 cup
  • Icing sugar - 1/2 cup or to taste
  • Condensed milk - to mix
  • Pistachio essence - few drops
  • Green food colour - few drops
  • Finely chopped mixed nuts (almond, pistachio, cashew nut) for filling
  • A few beetle leaves
  • A few cloves

How to Make Lavanga Lathika

  • Powder the cashew nuts and pass through a sieve. (The residue in the sieve may be used in the filling).
  • Add milk powder and icing sugar.
  • Add condensed milk little at a time, mixing well after each addition, till the mixture is like poori dough.
  • Add essence and color.
  • Grease the back side of a beetle leaf.
  • Take a lime sized ball of the mixture and spread it thinly on the greased leaf.
  • Place some mixed nuts in the center.
  • Fold the mixture over the filling into a triangle, with the help of the leaf. (Peel away the leaf from mixture after each fold)
  • Secure the folds with a clove.
  • Use all the filling.
  • Store in a container in the refrigerator.
