  • Cashew nuts - 1 cup
  • Milk powder - 1/2 cup
  • Icing Sugar - 1/2 cup or to taste
  • Condensed Milk - to mix
  • Pistachio essence - few drops
  • Green food colour - few drops
  • Finely chopped mixed nuts (almond, pistachio, cashew nut) for filling
  • A few beetle leaves
  • A few Cloves
  • How to Make Lavanga Lathika:

    1. Powder the cashew nuts and pass through a sieve. (The residue in the sieve may be used in the filling).
    2. Add milk powder and icing sugar.
    3. Add condensed milk little at a time, mixing well after each addition, till the mixture is like poori dough.
    4. Add essence and color.
    5. Grease the back side of a beetle leaf.
    6. Take a lime sized ball of the mixture and spread it thinly on the greased leaf.
    7. Place some mixed nuts in the center.
    8. Fold the mixture over the filling into a triangle, with the help of the leaf. (Peel away the leaf from mixture after each fold)
    9. Secure the folds with a clove.
    10. Use all the filling.
    11. Store in a container in the refrigerator.
