Ingredients

  • Prawns - 1 lb
  • Ginger - garlic paste - 3 tsp
  • Green chillies - 5
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Onion - 1
  • Tomatoes - 5
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste.
  • For Pulau:
  • Basmati rice - 2.5 cups
  • Cloves - 7 or 8
  • Cinnamon powder - 3tsp
  • Cardamom pods - 3
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter - 3 tsp

How to Make Malabari Prawn Pulao

  • Place a pan on fire, add half the quantity of oil and fry thinly sliced onions until golden brown and keep aside.
  • Now add the ginger - garlic, green chilli paste and fry until the raw smell goes and then add the cleaned prawns and fry for 3-4 min.
  • Add the cumin powder, chopped tomatoes and mix well. Cook on medium heat until they soften.
  • Now put in grated coconut, coconut milk, salt, garam masala powder.
  • Remove after 5 min and empty the gravy into a casserole and top it with parboiled rice.
  • Garnish it with fried onions, finely chopped coriander and a few mint leaves (and water if needed).
  • Cover with a lid, seal the sides with atta dough and cook on slow heat till rice is done.
  • Serve.
