Ingredients

  • Half ripe mangoes - 2
  • Grated fresh Coconut - 3 tbsp
  • Red Chillies - 10
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Urad dhal - 1.5 tsp
  • Fenugreek - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Thin Tamarind extract - A little
  • Jaggery - as per taste
  • For seasoning: Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Red Chillies - 2
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/4 cup
  • Curry leaves - A few
  • How to Make Mango Menskai:

    1. Use mangoes that are a little sweet and sour in taste. Peel them and cut into medium pieces.
    2. Cook in water or in tamarind extract till mangoes are soft.
    3. Fry the grated coconut in a little oil till it turns brown.
    4. Dry roast other spices separately.
    5. Grind them together with the coconut.
    6. Add this mixture to the cooked mangoes, and add salt and jaggery.
    7. Boil for a few minutes and remove from fire.
    8. Season with mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves.
    9. Serve with rice.
