  • 2 cups - white peas (soaked and cooked in pressure cooker)
  • 4 - Onions (chopped)
  • 2 - Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 4 - Garlic (chopped)
  • 1 inch piece - Ginger (chopped)
  • 2 - Green chillies (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup - grate Coconut
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - dry Mango powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • salt to taste
  • oil as needed
  • mixture for topping the pav buns
  • A few chopped Coriander leaves
  • 6 - pavs
  • How to Make Masaledar Misal Pav:

    1. For misal pav:
    2. Keep aside a few chopped onions for use while serving.
    3. Heat a kadai with a tbsp of oil and saute the onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, green chillies until they turn soft.
    4. Add the coconut and cook for a few minutes. Keep aside and allow it to cool.
    5. Grind the sauteed veggies as a paste.
    6. Heat enough oil in a kadai and fry the cumin seeds until they turn brown.
    7. Add the red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, dry mango powder and fry on low flame for a few seconds.
    8. Immediately add the paste and cook everything on simmering flame. Add enough water to prepare a gravy.
    9. Add salt and cook for 2-3 minutes.
    10. Add the cooked peas, bring to boil and turn off the stove.
    11. While serving, top it with the pav buns mixture, chopped onions and coriander leaves.
    12. Serve with pav buns.
