Ingredients

  • 3 - tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1 cup - cooked dal water
  • 1/2 tsp - lemon juice
  • 3 - curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds + cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - hing
  • 2 - dry red chillies
  • 1 - green chilli (slit)
  • 15 - mint leaves (chopped)
  • salt to taste
  • oil as needed

How to Make Minty Tomato Rasam

  • Grind the chopped tomato pieces as puree.
  • Add the puree, pepper powder, cumin powder, salt and enough water to the cooked dal water. Keep aside.
  • Heat a tsp of oil and fry the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing powder, green chilli and red chillies.
  • Add the chopped mint leaves and curry leaves saute for a few minutes.
  • Add the tomato-dal water mixture immediately and allow the mixture to start bubbling.
  • Turn off the flame immediately and add lemon juice. Serve hot.
