Ingredients

  • 3 - Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1 cup - cooked dal water
  • 1/2 tsp - Lemon juice
  • 3 - Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds + Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Hing
  • 2 - dry Red Chillies
  • 1 - Green chilli (slit)
  • 15 - Mint leaves (chopped)
  • salt to taste
  • oil as needed
  • How to Make Minty Tomato Rasam:

    1. Grind the chopped tomato pieces as puree.
    2. Add the puree, pepper powder, cumin powder, salt and enough water to the cooked dal water. Keep aside.
    3. Heat a tsp of oil and fry the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing powder, green chilli and red chillies.
    4. Add the chopped mint leaves and curry leaves saute for a few minutes.
    5. Add the tomato-dal water mixture immediately and allow the mixture to start bubbling.
    6. Turn off the flame immediately and add lemon juice. Serve hot.
