  • 1 cup - mixed grains
  • 1/2 cup - mixed dals
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp - sambar powder
  • salt to taste
  • a few Curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup - Drumstick leaves
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee + oil
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 2 - Green chillies (slit)
  • 2 - dry Red Chillies
  • a few Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp - Hing powder
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Mixed Grain, Drumstick Leaves Dal Bath:

    1. Wash and soak the grains and dals together for 15 minutes in 4 cups of water and keep aside.
    2. Pour the soaked grains and dals (with their water), drumstick leaves, turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt in a pressure cooker and cook for up to 3 whistles.
    3. In the meantime, heat ghee or oil in a pan and fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, green chillies and hing powder. Add the curry leaves and fry for a few minutes.
    4. Add the tempered spices and ghee to the pressure cooker and give a stir.
    5. Add the chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice.
    6. Toss gently and serve hot with any spicy side dish.
