Ingredients

  • 85 gms - split moong beans (lentils)
  • 150 gms - Rice
  • 500 ml - water
  • 1 tsp - salt (or to taste)
  • 50 gms - (2 oz.) Butter or margarine

How to Make Moong bean khichdi

  • Wash the rice and moong beans and soak for at least half an hour.
  • Put all the ingredients in a saucepan except for the butter.
  • Bring to boil, cover and simmer for 40 mins. until cooked mushy (it may be necessary to add more water during cooking if the mixture becomes too dry).
  • Finally, add the butter and stir in before serving.
