Ingredients

  • 1 cup - moong dal
  • 2 cups - water
  • For seasoning:
  • 1 inch - ginger
  • 1 - garlic
  • 1 - green or red chilli
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp - jeera
  • 1 tsp - oil
  • curry leaves

How to Make Moong Dal

  • In a pressure cooker, boil 1 cup of moong dal with 2 cups of water.
  • In a kadai, heat oil and put mustard, jeera, chilli, crushed ginger, crushed garlic and curry leaves.
  • Fry this season until the mustard splutter and becomes light brown colour.
  • Add this seasoning to boiled dal.
  • Add salt and turmeric powder to the dal.
  • Serve with rice or chapattis.
