  • 1 cup - Rice
  • 1 cup - moong dal
  • 1/2 cup - dry Coconut powder
  • 50 g - kaju, fried in a little Ghee
  • 1/2 cup - Sugar
  • 1/4 cup - Ghee
  • 3 - cardamoms, 2 peeled and powdered
  • A dash of Pacha Karpooram

How to Make Moong Dal Pongal

  • Fry moong dal without oil till aroma comes out.
  • Pressure cook moong dal and rice with 4 cups water. Remove from cooker.
  • Take a kadai and add 3 spoons of ghee and add rice mixture.
  • Add sugar and continue stirring after 5-7 minutes. When the pongal becomes thick, add dry coconut powder and fried kaju powder.
  • Add remaining ghee as per your wish.
  • Add cardamom and pacha karpooram.
