Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups - Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup - moong dal flour
  • 1/4 cup - Channa dal flour (besan)
  • 1/2 tsp - Sesame seed (til)
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 3 tsp - margarine or Butter
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp (or more for frying)

How to Make Mullu Murruku (Chakli)

  • In a mixing bowl add the rice flour, moong dal flour, besan, til, salt, chilli powder and margarine and make a firm dough, adding water little by little.
  • Fill the mullu murruku (chakli) press with the dough.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and when the oil is hot, press the dough into the oil.
  • Cook to a light golden colour or until the hissing sound ceases. Remove and drain it on a kitchen paper towel.
  • Store it in a dry airtight container.
