Ingredients

  • 200 g - all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tsp - carom seeds (ajwain)
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - vegetable oil (to be added in dough)
  • 2 cup - water or as needed
  • vegetable oil for frying

How to Make Namak Pare (savory snack with tea)

  • Take all ingredients (except oil for frying) in a bowl and knead a smooth dough.
  • Keep it covered with kitchen towel or 20 minutes.
  • Apply some oil on your flat board and put one round ball on it.
  • Roll it to the size of chapatti with rolling pin.
  • Make cut marks throughout the whole round as shown below.
  • Likewise make vertical cut marks.
  • Heat oil for frying in an open pan, add the cut pieces one by one and keep the heat low.
  • Allow them to fry on low heat for 5 minutes with continuous stirring.
  • Now slowly turn high heat and fry for 5 minutes with stirring (keep an eye not to burn the pieces).
  • Likewise repeat the process with remaining round balls.
  • Drain on paper towel, let them cool and store in airtight container.
  • Enjoy with tea or coffee.
