Ingredients

  • Black Urad Dal - 1 cup
  • Channa Dal - 1 cup
  • Toor Dal - 1 cup
  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Red Chillies - 4 (large)
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt
  • Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
  • How to Make Paruppu Adai:

    1. Soak dal and rice together for 3-4 hours.
    2. Grind dal, rice and red chillies coarsely without making it too watery.
    3. Add salt and asafoetida powder to the batter and mix well.
    4. Garnish the batter with chopped curry leaves.
    5. Heat a frying pan, add a few drops of oil and rub with a piece of paper or cloth.
    6. Pour batter on the frying pan and spread it to form a circle.
    7. Pour a little oil on the sides of the batter.
    8. Roast the adai on both sides on a low flame till golden brown.
    9. Serve with chutney, sambar or butter.
