Ingredients

  • thuvar dal - 1 cup.
  • Red Chilli - 4 nos.
  • Onion - 1 medium size, chopped.
  • Tamarind - 1 tbsp.
  • mustard - 1 tsp.
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp.
  • Channa dall - 1tsp (optional).
  • curry leaves.
  • salt to taste.
  • How to Make Paruppu Milagai Kozhumbhu:

    1. Heat a pan with less than one tbsp of oil. Fry tuvar dal, red chilli and onions till the dal turns colour and aroma spreads. Add salt and tamarind and pressure cook them for 10 to 15 mins.
    2. In a separate pan add a tea spoon of mustard, ural dal and channa dal (optional) wait for it to splutter.
    3. Add 1 stalk of curry leaves and then pour the cooked dal in it and allow it to boil.
