Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Toor dhal
  • 1 to 2 tbsp - Coconut
  • 2 small - Red Chillies
  • 2 pods - Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp - Pepper Corns
  • Hing(Perungayam) a pinch
  • 1 tsp - Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - as required

How to Make Paruppu Thogayal

  • Heat oil in a pan, dry roast dhal till golden brown. Set aside.
  • In the same pan, add coconut, pepper corns , garlic, red chillies, salt and hing and roast till coconut turns slightly brown and chillies are crisp.
  • Allow it to cool and grind with a little water to a semi coarse paste.
  • Add water according to the consistency you want.
