Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Rice flour
  • 1 cup - grated Jaggery
  • 1/2 cup - grated/shredded Coconut
  • 2 tbsp - green gram dal
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee
  • Salt a pinch
  • How to Make Pidi kozhukattai:

    1. Fry rice flour in a kadai till nice aroma comes out.
    2. Fry for some 15 minutes on a low flame.
    3. Meanwhile grate the jaggery and keep it ready.
    4. Add 1/4 cup of water in a kadai and add jaggery.
    5. Boil it till bubbles come up.
    6. Now remove the rice flour from the stove and add grated coconut and green gram dal powder - this has to be fried and made to a powder.
    7. Now add ghee and the jaggery. Mix them well.
    8. It should not be too thin or thick.
    9. Now make small balls like chapattis.
    10. |Apply little oil in idly plates/idly cooker and arrange the kozhukattai.
    11. Steam for 10-15 minutes.
