  • 2 cups - rice.
  • 1 tbsp - toor dal.
  • 2 - red chillies.
  • 1 cup - coconut flakes.
  • 1 tsp - urad dal.
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds.
  • 1/2 tbsp - oil.

How to Make Pidi Kozhukkatai

  • Put the dry rice and toor dal in the blender and coarsely grind it.
  • In a pan, put oil, urad dal, mustard seeds and red chillies. Fry them brown.
  • Add 3 cups of water, salt, hing, coconut flakes and curry leaves.
  • Once the water starts to boil, add the rice-dal mixture and mix them well.
  • Cover and keep aside for a few minutes.
  • Make into tiny balls and steam cook in the idli cooker in the same way as you cook idlis.
  • Serve them with mint chutney or onion chutney.
