  • Par boiled Rice (idli Rice) - 1.5 cups.
  • Toor Dal - 1/2 cup.
  • Channa Dal - 1/2 cup.
  • Urad Dal - 1/4 cup.
  • Red Chillies - 4.
  • Green chillies - 2.
  • Hing - A little bit.
  • How to Make Plain Adai:

    1. Soak all the ingredients except hing in water for about 2 hours.
    2. Now drain some water and grind ingredients little by little into a coarse, chunky paste.
    3. Add hing and mix every thing well. Add salt.
    4. If the batter is too thick dilute it accordingly.
    5. Heat a tava evenly. Ladle mixture in the centre and spread evenly to the four corners. Keep in mind it should be thick and not as thin as dosa.
    6. Pour oil around the edges. When one side is done, turn other.
    7. Serve it with butter and jaggery.
