  • 1 pound - unsalted butter
  • 3 cups - besan
  • 3/4 cup - rava
  • 3 cups - sugar
  • 1 tbsp - milk
  • 5-10 - pistachios chopped
  • 5-10 - almonds chopped
  • Some cardamom, powdered

How to Make Plain Magas

  • Boil the unsalted butter on low heat to make ghee.
  • Add 1 tbsp of milk and ghee into the besan and mix well.
  • Sieve the besan for any lumps.
  • Add the besan to the ghee and stir it on low heat.
  • Keep stirring till the besan turns brown and separates a little from the ghee.
  • Add the rava and keep stirring till it turns brown, too.
  • Add the sugar and keep stirring.
  • Empty the whole mixture into a plate.
  • After it cools a little, sprinkle with pistachios, almonds and crushed cardamom.
  • Once it cools completely, cut it into squares.
