Ingredients

  • 250 g - prawns, shelled and deveined.
  • 4 - big potatoes.
  • 2- beaten eggs.
  • 1 cup - breadcrumbs.
  • 1 - big onion, minced.
  • 1.5 piece - ginger, minced.
  • 4 - green chillies, minced.
  • a handful - finely sliced coriander leaves.
  • 1 tsp - Sugar and garam masala.
  • salt and chilli powder to taste.
  • oil for frying.
  • How to Make Plain Prawn Cutlets:

    1. Heat 2 tbsps. of oil, fry onion, ginger and chillies till soft.
    2. Add the prawns and the remaining filling ingredients. Cover tightly and, without adding water, cook till done.
    3. Remove from fire, grind the mixture to a paste and set aside.
    4. Boil, peel and mash the potatoes.
    5. Take 2 slices of bread and soak in water for a few minutes and squeeze dry.
    6. Mix in salt, potatoes and knead to a smooth mixture.
    7. Divide the potatoes and the prawns into equal number of portions.
    8. Form the potatoes into cups, fill with prawns and form into round cutlets. Dip in eggs and roll in crumbs and deep fry to a golden brown colour.
