Ingredients

  • 50 - shrimp
  • 1 large or 2 small - Onions
  • 4 - Green chillies
  • 2 tsp - Garlic paste
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • salt - as required
  • 1 tsp - Tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - Cumins seed
  • 1/2 tsp - black pepper
  • 8 - Curry leaves
  • Oil - for cooking
  • How to Make Plain Shrimp Curry:

    1. Shell the prawns and de-vein them. Cook in a little salted water with black pepper and 1 spoon of garlic paste till done. Remove and drain the excess water.
    2. Chop the onions and green chillies into tiny pieces.
    3. Heat oil in a kadai, add curry leaves, cumin, onion, turmeric, garlic and green chilli.
    4. When the onion turns golden, add coriander and the rest of the black pepper.
    5. Once the masala is fried, add the shrimp and fry a little.
    6. Dissolve the tamarind paste in a small bowl of water. Add it to the shrimp, simmer and serve.
