Ingredients

  • 7 - tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup - coconut
  • coriander leaves
  • Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/2 cup, small - fried gram dal
  • 3-4 tbsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp - sugar
  • For masala:
  • A little coconut, fried gram, coriander leaves, hing and some cooked tomatoes

How to Make Plain tomato rasam

  • Chop the tomato, cook with sugar and chilli powder.
  • Once the tomatoes are cooked, take some out and grind with the ingredients listed for masala.
  • Then add the ground paste back into the remaining tomatoes. Add salt to taste.
  • Cook everything for 5-10 mins. Finally, season with some mustard.
