Ingredients

  • 7 pomfrets
  • 7 glasses water
  • 7 medium-sized potatoes
  • 5 to 6 tsp - red chilli powder (or as per taste)
  • 5 tsp - coriander powder
  • 5 medium-sized onions (very finely chopped)
  • 4 tbsp - coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • 10 finely chopped green chillies (or as per taste)
  • 2 tbsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 10 cloves - garlic
  • 6 eggs (beaten)
  • 150 to 200g - bread crumbs
  • oil for shallow frying
  • salt to taste

How to Make Pomfret Cutlets

  • Clean and wash the fish. Boil the fish in approximately 7 glasses of water with cloves of garlic till tender.
  • Remove the skin and bones and mash well.
  • Boil the potatoes and mash while still hot.
  • In a bowl, mix together mashed fish, mashed potatoes, red chilli powder, coriander powder, ginger-garlic paste, finely chopped green chillies, onions, coriander leaves, and salt.
  • Let this mixture marinate for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion in form of a cutlet.
  • Dip each cutlet in beaten egg and roll in bread crumbs.
  • Shallow-fry on a medium flame till golden on both sides.
  • Serve with French fries or potato chips and tomato ketchup.
