Ingredients

  • 1 - large pomfret.
  • 1 - small onion, finely chopped.
  • 1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped.
  • 1/2 - coconut.
  • 1 - small ball of tamarind.
  • 6 - red chillies.
  • 1 - green chilli.
  • 1/2 tsp - Coconut oil.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder.

How to Make Pomfret in Ginger Sauce

  • Clean and cut pomfret.
  • Apply onion, ginger, salt and turmeric powder and keep it aside.
  • Grind coconut, red chillies, tamarind to fine paste, adding water from time to time.
  • Place a saucepan on stove. Add the pomfret pieces and ground paste.
  • Add water to get the required consistency of the curry. It should not be too thick or too thin.
  • Add more salt if necessary.
  • When the curry starts boiling, lower the heat and add coconut oil and green chilli.
  • Let it simmer for 5 mins.
  • Serve hot with hot, plain rice.
