Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - grated Coconut
  • 2 tbsp - split roasted gram dal
  • 1 - green chilli, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - thick Tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp - water
  • For seasoning:
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 - red chilli, halved
  • 4 - Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp - Hing

How to Make Pori Kadala Chammanthi

  • First grind roasted gram dal to a fine powder.
  • Add remaining ingredients and make a smooth paste with 2 tbsp water.
  • Adjust the thickness of the chutney with extra 1/4 cup water. It should be medium thick in consistency.
  • For seasoning:
  • In a pan, heat 2 tsp oil. Add mustard seeds.
  • When they splutter, add remaining ingredients. Saute well on a low heat until crisp and fragrant.
  • Pour seasoning over chutney and serve.
