Ingredients

  • Prawns - 1 kg
  • Coconut - 1
  • Onions - 10 large
  • Ginger - 2 "
  • Chilli powder - 5 tsps
  • Coriander powder - 12 tsps
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies- 10
  • Oil - 4 tbsp
  • Tamarind juice- 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 3-4 sprigs
  • Turmeric - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste.
  • How to Make Prawn Curry:

    1. Clean and cook the prawns in a pressure cooker with salt and turmeric.
    2. Keep aside.
    3. Heat oil in a pan and saute the finely chopped onions and ginger pieces until brown and add to the cooked prawns.
    4. Grate half of the coconut and fry until deep brown and grind it into a paste.
    5. Cut the remaining half of the coconut into thin pieces.
    6. Add tamarind juice, chillies, coriander powder, coconut paste and coconut pieces to the cooked prawns.
    7. Add water and cook on low fire till the gravy thickens.
    8. Splutter mustard seeds in the remaining oil.
    9. Add curry leaves and green chillies to it and add this to the curry.
    10. Serve hot with rice or roti.
