Ingredients

  • Medium over-ripe bananas, mashed - 3
  • All-purpose flour - 1.75 cups
  • Baking powder - 1.5 tsp
  • Baking soda - 1 tsp
  • Caster sugar - 1.5 cups
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder - 3/4 cup
  • Eggs, beaten - 2
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Vegetable oil - 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • For topping (optional):
  • Pure icing sugar - 1.5 cups
  • Medium over ripe banana, mashed - 1/4 cup
  • Soft butter - 1 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence - 1/2 tsp

How to Make Quick and Easy Chocolate Banana Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350F/180C.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk bananas, eggs, oil, milk, water and vanilla.
  • Add wet to dry and stir until just combined.
  • Pour batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
  • Bake for 35-40 mins or until a wooden pick comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before removing from pan.
  • Finish cooled cake with chocolate glaze topping, if desired.
  • Topping:
  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until icing is spreadable.
  • Add more sugar if necessary to thicken.
  • Spread icing over cold cake immediately.
  • Garnish with banana slices and chocolate shavings.
