Ingredients

  • 12 - Wheat bread slices
  • 3 - Potatoes (peeled, boiled and mashed)
  • 1 - Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/3 cup - peas (optional)
  • 2 - green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seed
  • 1 tsp - Urad Dal
  • Asafoetida, a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp - oil (plus more for deep frying)

How to Make Quick Bread bonda

  • To make the filling: Boil the potatoes, peel it and mash well.
  • In a pan, heat 2 tsp of oil and season with mustard, urad dal, green chillies and asafoetida.
  • Then add the finely chopped onions along with turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala and salt.
  • Once the onions are sauteed well, add the peas and cook for a couple of more minutes.
  • Then add the mashed potatoes and sprinkle just enough water to make a dry filling.
  • Keep it aside to cool .
  • Take each bread slice, scoop a tbsp of filling in its centre and close to seal with your fist.
  • Deep fry the bread bondas till golden brown.
  • Drain on absorbent paper and serve with ketchup.
