  • White bread slices - 10
  • Skimmed evaporated milk - 8 cups
  • Milk skimmed or whole - 1/2 cup
  • Ground cardamom - 1/4 tsp (optional)
  • Raisins - handful (optional)
  • Sugar free sweetener - 1/4 cup (powdered)
  • Refined oil - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee - 2tbsp

How to Make Quick Bread Halwa

  • Soak the bread slices, raisins, cardamom powder and sweetener in both kinds of milk, until soft and mushy.
  • Even out any lumps of bread, with hand.
  • On low heat, put oil in a kadhai (wok) and fry the above mix, until oil leaves the sides of the pan.
  • The mix turns golden brown and the smell of raw bread is gone.
  • Drizzle the ghee, before taking the pan off the heat.
  • The halwa is now ready.
  • Serve the halwa decorated with pista slices or cashew bits.
