Ingredients

  • Rice 1 cup
  • Chilly powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Karipatha (curry leaves) - a few leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground nut 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Urd dal 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp

How to Make Quick Spiced Rice

  • Add a tsp oil and salt to rice and cook with less water so, when rice is done the grains are separate.Keep aside.
  • Heat remaining oil in a pressure pan.
  • Crackle mustard seeds and fry urd dal.
  • When half done, add groundnuts and fry till groundnut crackles. Turn off heat.
  • Add turmeric, powder, chilly powder and karipatha (curry leaves).
  • Add rice and sugar and mix well and serve.
