Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Fine Rice flour
  • 1 - Raw banana
  • 1 tsp - Jeera/cumin seeds
  • 5-6 - Green chillies
  • 1 tsp - Chopped coriander
  • 1 pinch - Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 tsp - Grated Ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Raw banana rice roti:

    1. Wash the raw banana and cook it in a pressure cooker with enough water and without removing the skin. Cook till 2-3 whistles.
    2. Allow it to cool and peel the skin. Mash the banana into a fine paste.
    3. Mix all the other ingredients in a large bowl.
    4. Add the banana paste and enough water to make a batter which is thicker than idli/dosa batter.
    5. Spread oil on a thick-bottomed tava and spread the batter with your hands.
    6. Add a little oil along the sides.
    7. Cook covered for 2-3 mins. Reverse the sides and cook covered again.
    8. Serve hot with chutney. This dish is also called Baalekaayi akki roti.
