Ingredients

  • 1 cup - short grain or rounded rice
  • 1/3 cup - coarsely broken vermicelli
  • 2 tbsp - ghee
  • salt to taste
  • 2 cups - hot water

How to Make Rice Lebanese Style

  • Wash rice in plenty of water.
  • Soak in warm salted water for 30 minutes.
  • Drain and keep aside in a sieve.
  • Melt ghee in heavy pan. Add vermicelli.
  • Stir gently till lightly browned.
  • Add rice and stir gently again, till rice is coated with ghee.
  • Add salt and hot water and bring to a boil.
  • Cover and reduce heat and simmer till rice is cooked.
  • Check in-between, adding more water if necessary.
  • Rice should be fully cooked but not mushy.
  • Serve hot with stew, etc.
