Ingredients

  • 2 cups -wheat
  • 1 cup -whole green gram
  • 1 cup- rice
  • 4 cup- jaggery
  • 1 tsp- dry ginger powder
  • 10 - 15 pieces -cardamom (elaichi) powder
  • 1/2 -coconut cut into 1/2 inch pieces

How to Make Roasted Wheat Purwalankai

  • Roast wheat, gram and rice separately till they turn light brown on a low flame.
  • Grind the three together into a fine powder and sieve them.
  • Add jaggery in 1/2 cup of water, cook it to make a syrup. To ensure it is properly done test little syrup to see if it sinks in a cup of plain water, if yes then the syrup is done well.
  • Remove the syrup from flame and add cardamom and dry ginger powder, sliced coconuts and 90 per cent of the fine powder.
  • Roll this mixture into small balls of required size and roll them in the balance 10 per cent powder.
  • Cool the balls, it is now ready to eat.
