  • 1 cup -whole green gram
  • 1 cup- Rice
  • 4 cup- Jaggery
  • 1 tsp- dry Ginger powder
  • 10 - 15 pieces -cardamom (elaichi) powder
  • 1/2 -coconut cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • How to Make Roasted Wheat Purwalankai:

    1. Roast wheat, gram and rice separately till they turn light brown on a low flame.
    2. Grind the three together into a fine powder and sieve them.
    3. Add jaggery in 1/2 cup of water, cook it to make a syrup. To ensure it is properly done test little syrup to see if it sinks in a cup of plain water, if yes then the syrup is done well.
    4. Remove the syrup from flame and add cardamom and dry ginger powder, sliced coconuts and 90 per cent of the fine powder.
    5. Roll this mixture into small balls of required size and roll them in the balance 10 per cent powder.
    6. Cool the balls, it is now ready to eat.
