Ingredients

  • Besan - 3 tbsps (mix well in 1 cup of water)
  • 2 medium-sized Potatoes (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 medium-sized Tomato (cut into small pieces)
  • 2 big Onions (cut into small pieces)
  • Black gram Dal - 1 tbsp
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  • Rai - 1 tsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli - 1
  • Green chillies - 4 (chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind juice - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsps
  • Coriander leaves - a few (chopped)
  • Water - 2 cups
  • How to Make Saag:

    1. Keep a pan on the stove and put oil in it.
    2. When it is hot, put rai, jeera, black gram dal, urad dal, red chilli, and fry for a minute.
    3. When the colour changes, put green chillies and onion and fry for 2 minutes.
    4. Then, add tomato and fry for a minute.
    5. After this, add potato and fry for 2 minutes.
    6. Then, add water and keep the lid and allow it to cook for 10 minutes.
    7. When the potatoes are cooked well, add tamarind juice, besan water and mix well.
    8. Then put salt, chilli powder and coriander leaves.
    9. Cook for 5 minutes till the besan is done.
    10. This can also be had with rotis.
