Ingredients

  • Rawa (semolina) - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Maida (flour) - 1.25 cup
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Oil - to deep fry
  • How to Make Sajjappalu:

    1. Roast rawa in ghee.
    2. Add sugar, water and milk. Cook till it becomes thick.
    3. Add cardamom powder. Allow to cool.
    4. Add salt to maida. Add enough water and knead into soft dough.
    5. Take a small portion of dough and flatten on a greased palm.
    6. Place some rawa mixture on it.
    7. Fold the dough over it and cover completely.
    8. Flatten this ball on a greased plastic sheet like a small, thick puri.
    9. Deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
    10. Make all the Sajjappalu in the same way.
    11. Serve hot or at room temperature.
