Ingredients

  • Samai/Little millet- 1 cup
  • Mustard- 1/2 tsp
  • Channa dal- 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal- 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies- 2
  • Red chillies- 2
  • Grated coconut- 3 tsp
  • Asafoetida- 1/2 tsp
  • Oil- 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves- a few

How to Make Samai Kara Kozhakattai

  • In a vessel add water and soak the litle millet for 10 minutes. Strain after the said time.
  • In a pan add oil, mustard, urad and channa dals.
  • Now add asafoetida, green and red chillies as well as curry leaves.
  • Add water and salt. Add now grated coconut.
  • Once the water starts boiling add strained little millet.
  • Cook till water is absorbed. Cool the mixture and make small balls.
  • Steam them for 10 minutes and serve with coconut chutney.
