  • 1/2 kg - sardines
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 green chillies, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 tsp - chopped Garlic
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 cups - Tamarind water, extracted from a Lime sized ball
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Sardines In Tangy Gravy (Tamarind Fry):

    1. Heat oil in a suitable vessel and saute the onions and garlic for about 5 minutes.
    2. Add the green chillies, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and tamarind water and bring to boil.
    3. Drop in the sardines and mix well.
    4. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 8 minutes till the fish is cooked and the gravy is thick.
