Savoury Potato Nest is a continental grilled starter that is perfect to lift up your spirits and get the party started! 

It is a sumptuous feast for all Non-vegetarians out there. It is traditionally relished as a heavy winter staple or can also be enjoyed on a hot summer day alongside a chilled salad.  

This starter recipe has a combination of rich, tasty ingredients - minced meat (mutton or chicken), eggs, butter, potatoes and onion. Make Savoury Potato Nests look prettier by garnishing with peanuts and parsley.


  • 450 g - minced, cooked mutton/chicken
  • 1 kg - potatoes, peeled
  • 100 g - Butter
  • 2 - medium eggs
  • 50 g - peanuts, chopped
  • 1 - Onion
  • pepper to taste
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Savoury Potato Nests:

    1. Cook the potatoes in lightly salted water until tender.
    2. Drain and mash well with butter.
    3. Beat in the eggs and seasoning.
    4. Put the potato mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle.
    5. Pipe out four flat circles about 10 cm diameter on a baking tray lined with non-stick paper.
    6. Pipe another around the edges to make nests.
    7. Divide the mince mixture into each nest.
    8. Garnish with peanuts and parsley.
    9. If serving immediately, brush the potato nest with a little beaten egg and brown under the grill.
    10. Serve hot with salad.
