  • 1 packet - semiya or vermicelli
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp - Bengal Gram dal
  • 4 - dry chillies
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Semiya Uppuma:

    1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
    2. Add the Bengal gram dal, dry chilli and asafoetida.
    3. Now add the vermicelli and roast till it is golden brown.
    4. Add 2 cups of water and add salt and cook for another 5 mins.
    5. Serve hot with tomato chutney or mint chutney.
