Ingredients

  • 2 fish (preferably Pomfret or catfish)
  • 2 onions, chopped finely
  • 6 Garlic flakes
  • 5 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh Cream
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  • salt as per taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1/2 tbsp Poppy Seeds
  • 7 Cashew nuts
  • 1/2 dry Coconut
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds powder
  • How to Make Shahi Fish:

    1. Remove the head and tail of fish and cut into pieces.
    2. Wash and dry the fish pieces.
    3. Heat oil for frying.
    4. Fry the pieces till golden brown and keep aside.
    5. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan.
    6. Fry onion till golden brown.
    7. Remove and keep aside.
    8. Put the remaining oil in a pan.
    9. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds.
    10. When seeds splutter, add the paste.
    11. Simmer for 2-3 mins, adding 2 tbsp water.
    12. Add the spices and salt.
    13. Fry on slow flame till oil starts showing on top.
    14. Simmer for another 3-4 mins.
    15. Add the fried fish and onion.
    16. Add cream and mix well.
    17. Cook for 2-3 mins.
    18. Serve hot.
