Ingredients

  • 3 big Potatoes
  • 700 g - minced Meat
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1-2 cups - chopped vegetables (carrots, beans, corn, peas)
  • 8 tbsp - Butter
  • 1/2 cup - stock/broth
  • 1 tsp - Worcestershire sauce
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • How to Make Shepherd's Pie-Cottage Pie:

    1. Cook the potatoes in salted water till tender.
    2. Heat a pan and melt 4 tablespoons of butter.
    3. Saute onions in butter until tender over medium heat (10 minutes).
    4. If you are adding vegetables, add them according to cooking time.
    5. Put any carrots in with the onions.
    6. Add corn or peas either at the end of the cooking of the onions or after the meat has been initially cooked.
    7. Add minced meat and saute until no longer pink.
    8. Add salt and pepper. Add Worcestershire sauce.
    9. Add half a cup of stock/broth and cook uncovered over low heat for 10 minutes, adding more stock/broth as necessary to keep moist.
    10. Mash potatoes in a bowl with the remainder of butter and season according to taste.
    11. Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
    12. You can use the fork to make some designs on the potatoes. You can pipe in the potato mix as well.
    13. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degree C for about 30 minutes or until bubbling and brown.
    14. Serve hot.
