Ingredients

  • Freshwater fish - 500 g
  • Mustard Seeds - 3 tbsp
  • Green chillies - 5 to 6
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Few pieces of Banana leaves or aluminium foil
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Shorsher Mach (Mustard Fish):

    1. Wash the fish and slice it thinly.
    2. Grind mustard with coconut and green chillies to make a smooth paste.
    3. Mix the paste with chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and oil.
    4. Apply this paste on both sides of fish slices.
    5. Wrap each slice of fish on a piece of banana leaf or foil.
    6. Steam the parcels for 15-20 mins.
    7. Serve hot with rice and dal.
