Ingredients

  • ½ cup Coconut grated, fresh or desiccated
  • ¼ cup Jaggery (Gur)
  • ¼ teaspoon Green Cardamom seeds powder
  • For the outer cover: ½ cup Sooji (semolina)
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup Milk
  • ½ teaspoon pure Ghee
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

How to Make SOOJI MODAK

  • To make the stuffing -Mix coconut and jaggery in a pan. Turn the heat on medium.
  • Keep stirring and cooking.
  • Add cardamom powder and cook till the mixture becomes dry. It took me altogether 6-7 minutes.
  • Turn off the stove and keep it aside to cool.
  • Grease the modak mould well with ghee. Take a lemon sized dough and roll into a ball. Close the mould and take a dough shape it as a ball and stuff it from the bottom side.
  • Open the mould and carefully remove it. Likewise shape all the modaks with the stuffing. Steam cook for 10mins or until it comes out clean.
  • Switch off and remove the modaks and transfer to a serving bowl.
