  • 1 cup- Bottle Gourd (sorakaya)
  • 1/2 cup - moongdal
  • 2 tbsp - fresh grated Coconut
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 2 sprigs - Curry leaves
  • 2 to 3 - dry Red Chillies
  • pinch - Turmeric
  • salt to taste
  • For Tadka:
  • 2 tbsp- oil
  • How to Make Sorakaya Masala:

    1. Pressure cook moong dal and keep aside. Peel and cut bottle gourd into small cubes. Add some water, salt, turmeric to the vegetable, cooked dal and then cook the vegetable until soft.
    2. Make a paste of coconut, coriander powder, curry leaves and red chillies.
    3. When the vegetable is almost done, add the paste to it and allow it to cook for 2 mins.
    4. See that the consistency of the curry is not too thick.
    5. After it is done, make some tadka with mustard and split urad dal and add it to the vegetable.
    6. Tastes good with rice and rotis.
