How to Make Special Kalkandu Bath

  • Boil milk and reduce it to half.
  • Add washed rice and moong dal and pressure cook till they are completely boiled.
  • Transfer the rice from the pressure cooker to a thick bottom vessel and add 1/2 cup ghee.
  • Lower the flame, and little by little, add in the kalkandu, stirring continuously.
  • Mix some saffron strings with lukewarm milk and add rice once the kalkandu starts dissolving.
  • Add in the remaining of ghee slowly.
  • Keep stirring till all the kalkandu is melted.
  • Remove from stove.
  • Roast some almond, cashew nuts and raisins in ghee to garnish the rice and serve hot.
